Importing a Model

Set your license and use Import to open a model.

Model Structure

After import, the model is displayed in the viewer and its contents become available in the Model Structure panel.

You can:

  • browse assemblies, parts, bodies, and model entities;
  • show or hide individual elements;
  • select an object and locate it in the viewer;
  • search by name, type, or identifier.

Selection is synchronized between the Model Structure and the viewer.

Properties

The Properties panel displays information about the selected object.

Depending on the object, this can include:

  • type and identifier;
  • name;
  • surface area and volume;
  • bounding box dimensions and position.

3D Viewer

Available display modes include:

  • Wireframe;
  • Shading;
  • Shading with Boundaries.

Selection can be restricted to:

  • Solid;
  • Face;
  • Wire;
  • Edge;
  • Vertex.

The View Cube provides access to standard viewing directions. The bounding box of the selected model can also be displayed.

2D Drawings

If drawing data is available, Workbench can display 2D drawing sheets. You can switch between sheets, inspect their structure, select drawing elements, and view their properties.

Statistics

The Statistics panel groups model information by:

  • Product Structure;
  • Topology;
  • Geometry.

It shows the number and types of entities contained in the model.

Measurements

Create measurements by selecting geometry directly in the viewer.

Available measurement types include:

PMI

If PMI data is available, Workbench provides tools for inspecting its structure and contents.

You can:

  • browse the PMI hierarchy, including elements, views, graphical components, and semantic components;
  • visualize graphical components in the 3D viewer;
  • inspect properties of individual PMI elements.
